MEMORIAL: OBLONG AMERICAN LEGION POST # 219
Arthur L. "Art" Holmes 63 of Oblong, IL. died at 9:30 p.m. Friday September 22,
2000 at Crawford memorial Hospital Robinson, IL. Art was born on
May 31, 1937 in Martin Township Crawford County, Illinois. He was the son of
Robert S. & Dorothy (Waggoner) Holmes. On April 13, 1963 he married Marsha
Fasig. Art was a member of Seed Chapel Church rural Oblong. He was a farmer
and owned and operated Holmes Grader Service. He was a devoted member of
the SAL (Sons of American Legion)? Oblong American Legion Post #219. Art is
survived by his wife Marsha; 1 Son - Jeff Monroney; 2 Daughters &
Sons-In-Laws - Sarah & John Birkofer and Cindy & Scott Williamson; 5
Grandchildren - Bobby Kintner, Jenna & MaraLee Birkofer and Cory & Colton
Williamson; Mother - Dorothy & Dwight Quillman. Art was preceded by his
Father and 1 Brother Keith Holmes. SAL Rites at the cemetery were
conducted by Oblong American Legion Post #219 SAL and Oblong American
Legion Post #219. burial was in Oblong Cemetery.
